Earning Loco Coins
You earn Loco Coins through various activities. Each action has a daily cap to encourage consistent participation rather than one-time bursts.
How Content Bonuses Work
When you create a flyer or poster, you receive 5 base coins immediately. Our system then analyzes your content — if it's classified as an Event or News item, you earn an additional +3 bonus coins shortly after. This two-phase system rewards you instantly while giving extra coins for high-value community content.
Streaks
Stay active on consecutive days to build your streak. Streaks earn you bonus coins at milestones and are a great way to level up faster.
Grace Period
Life happens! If you miss a day, you have a 48-hour grace period before your streak resets. This gives you a buffer of one day to maintain your progress.
Your Coins
Locoround tracks your Loco Coins in three ways, each serving a different purpose. Understanding these helps you see how earning, spending, and inactivity affect your profile.
Spendable Balance
Your current coin balance. Increases when you earn coins and decreases when you spend them (e.g. redeeming coupons). Does not affect your level or leaderboard position.
Lifetime Coins
The total coins you've ever earned. This number never decreases — spending and inactivity don't affect it. Used for your leaderboard ranking.
Effective Coins
Mirrors your earned coins but can decrease through level decay if you're inactive for 30+ days. Used exclusively to determine your current level.
How They Work Together
When you earn coins, all three balances increase equally. When you spend coins, only your spendable balance decreases — your level and leaderboard position stay the same. If you go inactive for 30+ days, only your effective coins decrease (level decay), while your spendable balance and lifetime coins remain untouched.
Levels
Your level is determined by your effective coins. As you earn coins, your effective coins grow and your level rises. If you stop participating for an extended period, level decay will gradually lower your effective coins — but you can always earn them back.

How Level Progression Works
Every coin you earn increases your effective coins. Once your effective coins reach the next level's threshold, you automatically level up. For example, reaching 100 effective coins promotes you from Newcomer to Neighbor.
Spending coins on coupons or rewards does not affect your effective coins or level — only your spendable balance changes. If your level decays due to inactivity, your effective coins are set to the threshold of your new level, but you can earn your way back by continuing to participate.
Level Decay
Levels reflect your active engagement with the community. If you stop participating, your level will gradually decay over time.

Lose 1 level after 30 days without earning coins
Ongoing Decay
Lose 1 additional level for every 30 days of continued inactivity

How to Prevent Decay
Simply earn at least one Loco Coin within any 30-day window to reset the decay timer. Create a handbill, post a comment, check in daily, or engage with your community — any point-earning activity keeps your level safe. If your level does decay, you can always earn it back by continuing to participate.
Achievement Badges
Achievement badges are awarded automatically when you hit specific milestones. They're displayed on your Trophies screen and serve as a permanent record of your accomplishments in the community. You'll receive a notification when you unlock a new badge.

The system automatically checks for new achievements each time you perform an action. For example, when you create a handbill, it checks all content-creation milestones. When you receive a like, it checks engagement milestones. Streak achievements are awarded alongside their streak bonus. Once earned, badges are permanent and cannot be lost.
Leaderboard
The leaderboard ranks all users by lifetime Loco Coins — the total coins you've ever earned. Since lifetime coins never decrease (spending and level decay don't affect them), your leaderboard position is a permanent record of your total contributions.
Leaderboard Tips
Stay active, keep your streak going, and create valuable content to climb the ranks. Your leaderboard position can only go up — it's based on lifetime coins, so every coin you earn permanently improves your standing.
Daily Caps & Fair Play
Each point-earning action has a daily cap to keep the system fair and encourage consistent daily participation. Caps reset at midnight each day. Streak bonuses are the exception — they have no daily limit and reward sustained dedication.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to my level when I spend coins?
Nothing. Spending coins (e.g. redeeming coupons) only reduces your spendable balance. Your effective coins, level, and leaderboard position are completely unaffected. You can spend freely without worrying about losing progress.
Can I lose my level?
Yes. If you don't earn any Loco Coins for 30 days, your level will drop by 1. This continues for every additional 30 days of inactivity, down to a minimum of Level 1 (Newcomer). Just stay active to keep your level — any coin-earning action resets the timer.
Can my leaderboard position go down?
Your leaderboard ranking is based on lifetime coins, which never decrease. Your rank can only drop if other users earn more lifetime coins than you — spending and level decay have no effect on your leaderboard standing.
What counts as an "active day" for streaks?
Any day you earn at least one Loco Coin from any action counts as an active day for your streak.
How does the grace period work?
If you miss a day, your streak won't reset immediately. You have a 48-hour grace period to come back and continue your streak without losing progress.
Why didn't I get bonus points for my flyer?
The +3 content bonus is only awarded for Event and News content. Promotions, requests, and general chatter don't receive the bonus, though you still earn the base 5 coins.
How do I earn achievement badges?
Achievements are awarded automatically as you reach milestones. You don't need to claim them — the system checks your progress each time you perform an action and unlocks any badges you've qualified for. Once earned, badges are permanent.
